Fifth case of Cyclospora reported in Missouri
Missouri health officials confirmed a fifth case of Cyclospora in the state.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said the most recent case was reported by a health provider in the Kansas City metro area.
Previously, confirmed cases were reported in Jackson County, Taney County, Miller County and the Kansas City area.
The health department is working the the Centers for Disease Control and other agencies to investigate whether these cases are linked to cases in other states. The source of the illnesses has still not been confirmed.
Health officials say anyone experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms, including diarrhea, severe stomach cramps, or nausea, should seek medical attention.
