Moberly unveils renovated high school

Moberly Public Schools officials unveiled a remodeled high school Sunday afternoon.

The multimillion dollar project upgraded the building’s exterior and roof and added four classrooms. A new cafeteria/gymnasium was also built.

Security features such as locks and cameras were also added to the building, which will hold about 750 students this school year. Electric infrastructure upgrades were made to allow for future growth.

“I want to begin with a big thank you to the community for your support and belief in the value of a quality education,” said Superintendent Gena McCluskey. “That support and belief has allowed us to create a facility that will greatly enhance and facilitate the high quality of education that our children deserve and need.”

Voters approved a $16.2 million bond issue in 2011 to perform the renovation. The original building opened in 1969.
