Move-in day at the University of Missouri brings more than 3,000 students to campus
Wednesday marked the official move-in day at the University of Missouri, bringing more than 3,000 students to their new dorm rooms.
“We tell parents and students to ignore their GPS devices and ignore their knowledge of campus because we kind of mix things up a bit,” said Director of Residential Life Frankie Minor.
Some roads are now one-way streets while other roads are blocked off altogether. Those traffic patterns will constantly change throughout the day to help make traffic flow smoothly with thousands of students moving in.
While this year’s freshman class will not be the largest MU has seen, it will be the second-largest with approximately 6,100 students. Last year’s incoming class had more than 6,500 students.
“Some stagger themselves to let that first surge go through, and then come a few hours later,” said Minor.
Residential life officials say traffic was better than they were expecting.
