Jefferson City man, a convicted felon, found guilty of possessing 6 firearms
A jury found a Jefferson City man guilty of illegally possessing six firearms on Wednesday.
39-year-old Andrew David Brandwein was convicted in federal court of being a felon in possession of firearms.
According to the U. S. Attorney’s Office, Brandwein had six firearms in his possession, despite previous felony convictions for possession of a controlled substance, attempting to manufacture a controlled substance, possession of a precursor drug with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a concealable firearm and the distribution, delivery, sale or manufacture of a controlled substance.
Brandwein faces up to 10 years in federal prison without parole and a fine of up to $200,000. A sentencing date has not been scheduled.
His wife, Debra Louise Brandwein, 54, pleaded guilty on Aug. 9 to tampering with evidence. She admitted to cleaning jars that had contained meth in order to protect her husband from prosecution.
According to authorities, emergency crews were called to the Brandwin residence in January 2011 after a large barn on their property caught on fire. While officers attempted to make contact with the couple, they found several firearms in their home and vehicles. Police also found shells and more than $2,000 in Andrew Brandwein’s pockets during his arrest.
