Traffic stop leads to arrest for burglary, theft
Fulton police arrested a teenager early Tuesday on suspicion of stealing a truck and burglarizing a Subway restaurant.
Shortly after midnight, an officer pulled over Brandon Mallicoat, 17, at a roundabout on Business 54 for not having his headlights on. During the stop, the officer saw a large sum of bundled and paper-clipped cash in the truck.
The truck is registered to Bob’s Car Wash in Fulton, and the officer learned the truck had been stolen from the business. He also learned the car wash had been burglarized.
At the scene of the traffic stop, one of Mallicoat’s friends told police Mallicoat worked at a Subway restaurant. Officers checked that store and found it, too, had been burglarized.
They arrested Mallicoat on two counts of burglary, stealing over $500, stealing a motor vehicle and property damage.
Mallicoat was taken to the Callaway County Jail on $18,500 bond. He is awaiting formal charges.
