Fire damages New Bloomfield home

A New Bloomfield home suffered serious damage after a fire Sunday evening.

New Bloomfield and Holts Summit fire crews were called at 4:50 p.m. about flames and smoke shooting from part of a house in the 100 block of Maple Street.

Crews told ABC 17 News at the scene the fire was out within five minutes.

One woman who had been living in the home was burned trying to put the flames out.

Her family said they had come home and could hear smoke detectors and see flames.

Fire crews did not have a damage estimate and said a cause would never be determined because the family refused a fir marshal’s request to investigate.
