The Missouri House committee works to prevent child abuse in the state

The House Interim Committee on Improving Government Responsiveness and Efficiency met Monday morning and the conversation was on Missouri child abuse.

Citizens came forward with their stories about abused children who have not been taken care of by protective services.

Most of the committee members agreed that more needed to be done to protect Missouri children.

Representative Stacey Newman wants to take things even further, saying “the safety of the rest of the family. Not just the child that’s involved, but the siblings even the potential abuse of any other spouses that are involved, if it’s a inner family situation.”

The committee also looked into DSS policies and a recent audit with misspending in child care facilities.
