One man charged in connection to Jefferson City death investigation

One man was charged with assault as Jefferson City police continue investigating the suspicious death of his wife.

Albert Glisson was charged with felony assault Saturday and booked into the Cole County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

As of Monday evening, Glisson has been released from jail. An autopsy on Monday revealed no criminal wrongdoing, and therefore Glisson’s bond was lowered.

Officers were called to208 McKinley St. just before 10:30 a.m. Saturday for a deceased person. That address is just off Riverside Drive, near Ellis-Porter Park.

Police say Glisson called 911 saying his wife, Amanda, was unconscious and not breathing. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

According to officers, the victim showed signs of physical trauma. Prior to her death, Amanda Glisson had been suffering from various degenerative physical ailments that prevented mobility.

A probable cause statement stated “the bruises on [the victim’s] face are consistent with being struck with a beer bottle.”

Investigators say Albert Glisson assaulted his wife and he has since been charged with second-degree domestic assault.

Two juveniles, who were at home at the time of the investigation, have been released to the custody of their grandparents.

Neighbors told ABC 17 News they recognized the man in Glisson’s mugshot, but that the entire family kept to themselves.

Neighbors also told ABC 17 News crews at the scene again Sunday that the victim was the mother of Glisson’s children and was disabled, using a wheelchair.
