Police find key evidence in jail escape

Police uncovered new evidence about a Mid-Missouri inmate who escaped from jail earlier this week.

Walter Estay got a seven hour headstart Monday morning after taking the jailer’s keys and cell phone and locking the door behind him.

Estay remains on the loose. But on Friday Kansas City officers found the Rav4 he allegedly stole in the 2800 block of Topping Drive.

Investigators are now collecting fingerprints from the vehicle.

Anyone with information is still urged to call the Howard County Sheriff’s Department, at (660) 248-2477.
