13-year-old honorary CoverGirl and makeup artist dies

Talia Castellano, the inspiring 13-year-old cancer patient who became an honorary CoverGirl, died Tuesday.

Castellano gained worldwide popularity by posting makeup tutorials on YouTube. She appeared with Ellen DeGeneres , who named her an “honorary CoverGirl.”

“[Makeup] makes me feel like I’m flawless, and that I can work my baldness,” Castellano told our Orlando affiliate.

As of Tuesday, she had 742,000 YouTube subscribers and 314,000 fans on Facebook.

Castellano passed away at 11:22 a.m., according to a post on the Angels for Talia Facebook page.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share with all of you that Talia has earned her wings at 11:22am. Please lift her beautiful soul, her beautiful light to heaven and please send your love and prayers to her family during this most difficult time. God speed little one, may you be free from pain and suffering, may your soul feel the light and love that you brought to so many of us on this Earth during the short time you were her with us. We will miss you more than you will ever know baby girl.”

Castellano had been battling cancer since 2007.

“I have two cancers in my body at once,” Talia told ABC News in 2012. “Well preleukemia which is a start of leukemia in my bone marrow. There are not really any treatments for it. It is very rare to have neuroblastoma and leukemia at the same time.”
