Multiple accidents close parts of I-70 in Mid-Missouri
Numerous accidents have slowed traffic on I-70 through Mid-Missouri Tuesday afternoon.
One accident on I-70 eastbound near mile marker 135 and the Boone-Callaway county line had traffic at a standstill.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, the accident involved two vehicles that rolled over with one van on its side. Sources told ABC 17 News that a child was pulled from one vehicle and at least one other person was trapped.
Boone County Fire Protection District said a driver heading westbound on I-70 lost control of the car, crossed the median into the eastbound lanes. The car traveling eastbound saw the car coming at it and swerved to avoid it, but also ended up in the median.
The vehicles did not collide. Only one person was transported to the hospital for injuries suffered in the crash.
Because of the crash, traffic backed up at least seven miles to the Highway 63 connector around 4:45 p.m.
A separate accident at the 101 mile marker near Boonville has one lane closed in each direction.
That accident involves a tractor trailer on its side.
