Columbia police arrest 10 for fireworks violations

Columbia police released their Fourth of July fireworks statistics.

Between July 3 and 7, officers responded to 273 fireworks complaints within city limits.

Officers arrested 10 people in seven separate incidents. Those arrested were released on a summons to appear in municipal court for possession and/or discharged of fireworks.

According to police, during the same period last year, police were called to 279 fireworks complaints and made only one arrest.
