One arrested after car crash and shots fired incident Sunday

One man was arrested for unrelated incident after a crash and shots are fired on Providence Road on Sunday night.

Columbia police said Monday Michael Ramey-Pennington was the passenger in one of two cars involved in the incident. He was arrested and charged for a burglary and property damage incident on Range Line Road earlier Sunday.

A juvenile was also detained at the scene, but released.

Columbia police told an ABC 17 News crew at the scene Sunday the two sedans had been firing guns when they crashed into a truck.

It happened on Providence Road as the road crosses over Interstate 70.

Officers at the scene indicated the two sedans had been chasing each other at the time of the shooting. They had found more than one shell casing at the crash site.

A news release from the department late Monday said a gun had been found at the crime scene.

Ashland police confirmed for ABC 17 News on Monday that an overnight officer found an abandoned vehicle on Eastside Drive near Route Y at 10 p.m. Sunday. It was riddled with bullet holes and had a flat tire on the right side.

No one was seriously hurt in the crash or shooting.
