Deputies find car wrapped around tree

Early Wednesday morning, a Boone County Sheriff’s deputy found a car wrapped around a tree, but the driver nowhere to be found.

The deputy found the car around 2 a.m. in the 4700 block of Richland Road.

Emergency crews searched for the driver, but no one was found at the scene.

License plates lead authorities to a home on Olivia Ray Drive in Columbia. There, deputies identified someone involved in the accident.

Deputies arrested 24-year-old Andrew Mundwiller for suspicion of drunk driving.
