Four in custody after shots fired in Jefferson City

Four people were taken into custody Monday after a shots fired call in Jefferson City.

Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 1100 block of E. Dunklin Street around 12:45 p.m. Dispatchers received numerous calls that several gunshots were heard in the area and people were seen running from the scene.

During the investigation at the scene, police took two people into custody: a 21-year-old was taken into custody for obstructing an ongoing investigation and resisting arrest and a 16-year-old teenager was taken into custody for unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest.

Later, officers searched a home in the 600 block of Chestnut Street and took two other people into custody. Police arrested a 21-year-old and a 23-year-old for second-degree burglary, obstructing police and resisting arrest.

Officers recovered two firearms in the home.

Police say no one was injured in the shooting.
