Car crash damages Red Cross offices in Jefferson City

Police in Jefferson City are investigating a disturbance, which led to a car damaging the Red Cross offices.

The victim told police she was assaulted by a man inside her vehicle around 12:30 a.m. Monday. As she was trying to escape, the car hit a parked car and then the building located at 431 E. McCarty Street.

Police say along with the suspect and victim, two infant children were in the car.

The 25-year-old suspect fled the scene, but was later apprehended in the 100 block of Marshall Street. Police are requesting charges of felony tampering, felony leaving the scene, felony property damage, two counts of felony endangering a child and misdemeanor assault against the suspect.

Law enforcement have not released the suspect’s name.

The Red Cross says the car crash caused approximately $10,000 in damage to the building.
