Water Safety In Jefferson City

Jefferson City pool employees work around the clock to provide a safe environment for area children. They say that steps need to be taken by children and their parents to ensure that the pool stays the safest that it can be.

Memorial Park Aquatic Center manager Craig Wehmeyer said, “As soon as you can, start your kids. We offer a mommy and tot class that even just introduces the mom with the baby in the water.”

Wehmeyer believes that if the children are comfortable and confident in the water from an early age, they are less likely to panic if something unexpected happens.

He also says that knowing your child’s limits is important. Wehmeyer encourages parents to talk with their children about what is safe and not safe for them to do in the pool waters.
