Red Cross helping more Missouri flooding victims

The American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter is helping more flooding victims in Mid-Missouri and St. Louis.

On Tuesday, the agency provided assistance to two families in the Osage City-area.

Two other families, one from Osage City and one from McBaine, also received additional support from the Red Cross.

Volunteers said they helped one resident who had not been able to leave his home since Saturday after floodwaters surrounded the home.

The Red Cross said the resident was able to leave the home by boat Tuesday and is receiving lodging along with other necessary items.

Another family received assistance after flooding destroyed their mobile home on Osage High Street.

Families in Osage City and McBaine, who had already received assistance, were able to get additional help from the agency.

The Red Cross chapter is also sending three volunteers from Montgomery and Callaway counties to St. Louis to help with flood victims.

The volunteers will work directly with those affected by the recent flooding.
