Roads flood across Mid-Missouri after heavy rain Thursday

Heavy rain Thursday is causing multiple roads to flood across Mid-Missouri.

Several inches of water were flowing over the eastbound lanes of I-70 near the 131 mile marker, east of Columbia.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a drain clogged, causing water to back up on the interstate. Crews worked to clear the drain and water from the road.

Near Boonville, emergency dispatchers are reporting water over Highway 87 at the intersection with Highway Y.

Road crews are urging drivers to slow down and use caution as flash flooding could occur.
