Alleged burglar captured by Columbia police

Columbia police arrested a man Thursday morning after he allegedly burglarized a home.

Officers responded to the 2200 block of Parks Edge Place for a report of a burglary that occurred around 8 a.m.

Police say a resident witnessed a man come in through his back door, stole a bottle of water then fled before officers could arrive.

Police then saw the suspect, 25-year-old, Michael James Dann, Jr., leaving the back door area of a home in the 2200 block of Live Oak Line. When officers asked him to stop, he ran and tried to get into other homes before officers took him into custody.

Officers arrested Dann for first-degree burglary, failure to register as a sex offender, felony resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
