Truck dumps 15 tons of rocks on Providence Road

A dump truck overturned on Providence Road Wednesday afternoon, spilling tons of rocks on the road.

According to the driver, he was traveling south on Providence when the light at Mick Deaver Memorial Drive turned yellow. The driver said two vehicles in front of him made abrupt stops and when he thought he was going to hit them, he made a quick right turn on Mick Deaver.

The truck overturned on its side, dumping about 15 tons of rocks on the side of Providence.

Emergency crews closed lanes to traffic while they worked to clear the scene.
