Jefferson City woman arrested for statutory rape

A Jefferson City woman is in jail after being arrested on charges of statutory rape.

According to police, officers investigated a report of a runaway juvenile Tuesday. The mother of a 15-year-old male told officers her son ran away with 37-year-old Tammy L. Robinett. She also told police Robinett had sex with her son.

Officers found the boy and Robinett in the woods near her home. Police say Robinett admitted to have sex with the boy.

Robinett was arrested on two charges of second-degree statutory rape. She is being held in the Cole County Jail.
