Missouri firefighters honored this weekend in Kingdom City

The names of three Missouri firefighters will be added to a memorial wall Sunday morning.

A weekend meant to honor firefighters lost in the last year started Saturday night with a vigil held at the Fire Fighters Memorial in Kingdom City, just off Interstate 70.

Three names will be added to the monument dedicated to those who died in the line of duty the next day.

The state will honor senior firefighter/paramedic Doug Haase Sr. of the St. Charles Fire Department; former Pattonsburg Fire and Rescue Protection District chief Eddy Wayne Meadors; and firefighter Jeffrey Hudson of the St. Louis Fire Department.

“The brave men and women of the fire service risk their lives each time they answer the alarm bell,” Missouri State Fire Marshal Randy Cole said in a news release. “We remember those who did not return from their final call, and we extend our thanks and support to the families they left behind.”
