Missouri Attorney General wants GPS monitoring of Bruce Cole

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster announced Thursday he wants the former CEO of Mamtek to have GPS monitoring.

Bruce Cole is awaiting trial on four counts of securities fraud and one count of felony theft following the failure of the Moberly Mamtek plant.

Cole is currently under house arrest and must have electronic monitoring. According to Koster, the current monitoring system is inadequate and only shows when Cole enters or leaves his home.

Cole is trying to remove electronic monitoring from his bond condition, but Koster is asking the court instead to use GPS monitoring, which would allow his location to be tracked in real-time.

“It is important that the best technology be utilized to ensure the defendant does not engage in activities beyond the scope of his house arrest nor attempt to flee from having to answer the charges leveled in our criminal complaint,” Koster said in a statement.

A hearing on the proposed monitoring and changes to Cole’s bond conditions is schedule for Monday, May 20 in St. Charles County Circuit Court.

Authorities believe Cole falsely secured bond funding then used money for the Mamtek project for personal use, including making payments on a Beverly Hills home.
