Man in hospital after motorized paraglider crashes near Ashland

Boone County fire crews and medics are responding to a report of a motorized paraglider that has crashed just south of Columbia.

The initial call went out around 5:20 p.m. for the 9000 block of Tomlin Hill Road.

Crews told ABC 17 News at the scene that 43-year-old Oliver Limcherm took off from private property on Tomlin Hill Road this afternoon in a motorized, fan-driven paraglider before losing control and plummeting 60 feet.

As of Monday afternoon, Limcherm is listed in good condition at University Hospital. Emergency crews said he broke his leg and pelvis in the crash.

ABC 17 News also learned the pilot is part of a group that practices and flies paragliders recreationally.
