Suspect arrested in Jefferson City burglary

Police in Jefferson City are investigating after arresting an alleged burglar Monday.

Around 5 p.m., police were called out to the 400 block of East Capitol for a burglary in progress.

When officers got there, Eric Brown, 46, and a woman were walking out of the home in question. Police say Brown was holding a hacksaw and tire tool.

Police questioned Brown and the woman. She told police Brown convinced her to help him move items out of the home and that he had permission to be there.

After further investigation, police arrested Brown on charges of burglary and possession of burglary tools. The woman was not arrested.

Brown was taken to the Cole County jail.

Right now, detectives continue an investigation into this incident and other possible burglaries.
