One of Governor Jay Nixon’s security team members is under investigation for assault

A member of Governor Jay Nixon’s security team is under investigation after he allegedly assaulted his wife.

29-year-old Brock Vogt was arrested on April 26 for allegedly pushing his wife at their home in Columbia.

Missouri State Highway Patrol officials tell ABC 17 News Vogt was assigned to protect the governor.

Highway Patrol officials wouldn’t say when he was assigned to the governor’s security team, but they did say he was almost immediately put on administrative leave the day he was arrested.

Vogt has received awards in the past for his work with the Highway Patrol and could now be facing charges of domestic assault.

Columbia police officials say Vogt was arrested at his house after he and his wife allegedly got into an altercation. Police say he pushed his wife and she landed on the toilet. He then grabbed her by the back of the neck and pinned her up against the wall.

Neighbors say the couple moved to the house less than six months ago. According to Highway Patrol notes, he and his wife have two daughters.

The governor’s office told ABC 17 News Nixon does not pick the troopers who guard him. They’re assigned by the Highway Patrol. The governor’s office did not make any further comment.

Highway Patrol officials would not go into detail, but did say there is an internal investigation pending.

They said there are a number of outcomes that could happen depending on what the investigation unfolds. That includes Vogt being dismissed from the agency.

MSHP would not answer any questions regarding his history within the agency other than that he started in January 2008 and worked until he was placed on leave.

Vogt is not facing any charges from prosecutors as of May 3. ABC 17 News tried to talk with the prosecutor who handles domestic assault cases to see when of if she was planning on filing charges, but she was not in the office.
