Three injured after Boone County car crash
A serious crash on Highway 124 in Boone County sent three people to the hospital Thursday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded to a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 124 and Proctor Road around 12:45 p.m.
Officials say a black Ford F-150, driven by Harold Burnham, 59, of Columbia, flipped and landed on the top of a red Hyundai Elantra, driven by Amy Ivicsics, 37, of Harrisburg. A third vehicle, a Toyota Camry, was also involved in the crash.
The truck caught fire and Ivicsics was originally trapped, but bystanders were able to pull her to safety.
Highway Patrol troopers say Burnham traveled off the right side of the road and lost control, causing him to strike Ivicsics’ car head-on and then flip on top of it.
Ivicsics was transported to University Hospital with serious injuries and Burnham suffered moderate injuries.
The driver of the third vehicle, Kimberly Harvey, 40, of Fayette suffered minor injuries.
As of Thursday evening, Ivicsics was listed in fair condition.
Highway Patrol troopers say Ivicsics and Harvey were both wearing seat belts. It is unknown if Burnham was wearing a seat belt, according to a crash report.
