Deputies investigate assault with a weapon

Deputies in Callaway County have made an arrest in a weekend assault case.

Deputies were called to Green Meadows Trailer Parknear Fulton on Saturday for an assault involving a gun.

When investigators got there, the suspect, Michael Smith, had fled into nearby woods, deputies said. Smith is from Auxvasse.

Multiple agencies were involved in the search for Smith but could not find him.

Smith later turned himself in at the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim told police Smith was inside a residence and when he was confronted Smith showed a gun in a threatening manner.
