Train hits car in Sedalia Saturday night

A Sedalia driver had a close call on Grand Avenue late Saturday night.

Police told ABC 17 News the man’s car stalled on the railroad tracks ahead of an oncoming train.

He jumped out to call for help before the train made impact, pushing the car off the tracks into a utility pole.

The 2007 Toyota Camry was destroyed, the train suffered some minor damage. Neighbors said Sunday they briefly lost power because of the damage to the utility pole.

Police said the driver was lucky he was alone and got out when he did. No one was injured in the crash.
