Family home floods after Wednesday’s storms

An Ashland family is left homeless and their house destroyed after yesterday’s storm.

The water began to trickle into the kitchen with the first wave of rain while the second wave raised water levels even more.

It was around7 p.m.Wednesday when the house began to flood withrainwaterand raw sewage.

On Thursday, water lines are left on the doors, walls and fence outside.

In thebedroom,the floodsquishesunder your feet.The backyardisjust as bad.Lines of grass are left on the fence and puddles are everywhere.

Thankfully, no one in the Starr family was hurt but sentimental keepsakes were lost.

“My wife, she probably won’t talk about it, but her oldest daughter died with cysticfibrosisand some of that stuff is ruined and she will never get it replaced,” said Gary Starr.

The family is hoping the city of Ashland will help the family financially dealing with the damages.

Now, the family is staying in a local hotel and paying for the expenses out of their pockets.
