Mid-MO man charged with operating illegal gaming business

Thirty-four individuals and 23 entities have been indicted and accused of operating an illegal sports gaming business.

According to the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma, the business solicited more than $1 billion in illegal bets.

Among those indicted is Terry Lee Campbell, 70, of Lake Ozark.

According to the indictment, Bartice Alan King, 42, of Spring, Texas conspired with the other defendants to operate an internet gambling service from Costa Rica and Panama.

The company, Legendz Sports, allegedly used bookies in the U.S. to solicit and accept sports wagers. The defendants are allegedly employees or associates of the company while the 23 entities allegedly helped the company operate gambling procedures, manage websites and make payouts to gamblers.

The indictment from the DOJ says Legendz Sports solicited millions of illegal bets, totaling over $1 billion.

The defendants face up to 55 years in prison for racketeering, conspiring to commit money laundering, money laundering and operating an illegal business.
