Lebanon man arrested for alleged hate crime on University of Missouri campus

Officers arrested a Lebanon man for an alleged hate crime on the University of Missouri campus.

MUPD confirm Joshua M. Mazelin, 25, of Lebanon was arrested Monday for a hate crime, third degree assault and a violation of probation and parole.

MUPD Captain Brian Weimer says Mazelin was being treated at the Missouri Psychiatric Center when he began getting violent.

Weimer says Mazelin began yelling racial slurs at an African-American staff member before elbowing the victim in the eye.

Mazelin is being held at the Boone County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
