Two Arrested After I-70 Pursuit

Two people were arrested early Thursday morning after leading law enforcement on a pursuit along I-70. Boone County deputies tried to stop a vehicle close the bridge over the Missouri River near Rocheport, but the driver didn’t stop. As the pursuit moves west, troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, deputies from Cooper County and Boonville police officers joined the effort to stop the suspect vehicle.The chase ended when the suspect vehicle drove over tire deflation devices just west of the Highway 87 exit in Cooper County. deputies arrested Rhonda Watson, 42 of Pilot Grove, and Michael Garrett, 34 of Columbia without further problems.Watson faces charges for resisting arrest and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. Garrett was arrested for outstanding warrants in Boone and Callaway counties.According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, Garrett was arrested following a similar incident in which he led deputies on a 15-mile chase from Columbia to Hartsburg.
