Sinkhole Opens in Cole County
The rain and melted snow water may have caused a sinkhole to finally break through in Cole County this weekend.The owners of the land off of Route C told ABC 17 News the hole started showing in June and at that point they filled the area back up with dirt.However, with recent water runoffs the hole grew this week and is currently longer than 60 feet and around 15 feet wide.At this point it is not clear how deep the sinkhole is due to the water inside.On Sunday, the owners spent the day building a fence to surround the area, so no animals or people fell in.
