Serious Crash in Callaway County

***UPDATE WEDNESDAY 4 P.M.***University Hospital officials tells ABC 17 News that Ruby Keeling is is critical condition while Kathy Williams is in serious condition.***UPDATE WEDNESDAY 7 A.M.***According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the Missouri Military Academy van, driven by Joseph Shafer, crossed the median onto eastbound Highway 54 and failed to yield to an SUV.The occupants in the van, a boys basketball team from MMA, received minor-to-moderate injuries and were all transported to University Hospital by ambulance.Two Auxvasse women in the SUV, 63-year-old Ruby Keeling and 40-year-old Kathy Williams, suffered moderate and severe injuries. Both women were transported by helicopter to University Hospital. ***UPDATE 7:30 P.M.***An official with the Missouri Military Academy says that none of the people in the school’s van received serious injuries. However, as a precaution, seven cadets and one teacher were taken to an area hospital.***UPDATE 5:30 P.M.***A news crew at the scene says ten people were injured in the crash. Two of those injured were airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia. The van was carrying a boys basketball team from the Missouri Military Academy. The North Callaway Fire Chief says the team was on the way to play in a basketball game at North Callaway High School.***ORIGINAL STORY***Emergency crews are on the scene of a crash in front of North Callaway School on Highway 54.Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers say a van from the Missouri Military Academy crashed into another vehicle. Three students from the academy van are injured as well as two other people in a second vehicle.Paramedics called for two helicopters and several ambulances to be brought to the scene.There is no word yet on the extent of the injuries or what caused the crash.Stay with ABC 17 News and abc17news.com for updates on this developing story.
