Poor Road Conditions in Mid-MO

Broadway, College Avenue and I-70 are full of cracks and potholes with the most problematic pothole being on the Stadium Boulevard ramp to I-70 East in Columbia. The current mild weather indicates snow plow trucks are done for the season, but MoDOT crews are turning their attention to repair the damage the winter storms caused.Snow and the warmer weather have caused potholes to spring up. In response to the pothole on Stadium Boulevard, MoDOT official Jim Williams says, “Maybe we need to go up there and make a run.”Williams says the department tackles potholes as they’re reported, except for one location. Officials always keep an eye on the I-70 and Highway 63 connector. Once someone reports a pothole, they plan to fix it regardless of the budget.”Anything we see that can be a danger to the driving public we try to get filled in,” Williams said.More potholes are brought to their attention daily. Crews say they’ll get to each problem spot as soon as they can. Next Monday, MoDOT is announcing a new statewide effort called, “Missouri Pothole Patrol.” If you know of a pothole that needs attention, call 1-888-275-6636 or check out MoDOT’s website.
