Police Arrest Shooting Suspect

Columbia police responded to calls of shots fired in the north east part of town Thursday just before 9 p.m. The gunshots allegedly occurred in the 3200 block of Elm Grove and Brown Station Road as the passenger of the vehicle fired two shots into the air.Officers pulled over a mid-sized SUV that matched the description of the suspect vehicle in the Casey’s parking lot on Paris Road, and one of the two occupants of the car ran away. After a brief foot-chase, police caught up with the suspect and found a weapon on him. Officers arrested 25-year-old Brock Griffith for his role in the shooting. Cops say the firearm had been stolen from a case that the CPD investigated in 2009.Brock was arrested for felony receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a concealed firearm, felony unlawful use of a weapon and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond is set at $50,500 and he remains in the Boone County Jail.No one was injured in the incident.
