Columbia Officers TASER Man

Columbia police responded to a call of a man threatening a family in central Columbia Friday night. Police say they received a 911 call just after 7 p.m. of a man throwing objects at a home in the 300 block of Bryant. The family inside the home told police the suspect claimed to have a gun. When police arrived at the scene, the man wouldn’t cooperate with police and started throwing chairs at them. Officers then used TASERS and pepper spray to try and subdue him, but it did not affect the suspect. Three officers had to physically restrain the man and one officer suffered minor injuries to his hands.The suspect was taken to a local hospital.Police believe he was intoxicated. No one inside the home was injured.
