Boonville Nordyne plant to close and send manufacturing jobs to Mexico

Furnace manufacturer Nordyne announced today it would be shuttering its Mid-Missouri plant in Boonville after 35 years.

The company said the move was part of a plan to cut 700 Missouri jobs and send them to Mexico. Nordyne also owns a plant in Poplar Bluff.

The company said it was making the move to remain competitive. A spokesman said Nordyne would be offering employees a severance package. A Tennessee plant will remain open.

The transition is expected to be complete by January 2015.
