Wrong-Way Driver Killed on I-70
***UPDATE 3 P.M.***The Missouri State Highway Patrol has released the identities of the drivers involved in the crash. Troopers say Emily Ferguson, 19, of St. Louis was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-70 and struck a truck head-on. Ferguson was pronounced dead at the scene around 3:15 a.m. The driver of the truck, 39-year-old Charles Mills of St. Peters suffered serious injuries.***UPDATE 11 A.M.***MoDOT reports that both eastbound lanes of I-70 have reopened. ***UPDATE 6:04 A.M.***One lane of eastbound traffic is back open; the other lane is still closed and traffic still moving slowly. State troopers now say the wrong-way driver hit a box truck, which caught on fire. The truck’s driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.***UPDATE 5:34 A.M.***The Highway Patrol says the driver killed in the wrong-way accident was a female, but aren’t releasing her name or age at this point.***UPDATE 5:00 A.M.***The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a wrong-way driver who caused the accident near Kingdom City has been killed. It’s unclear why the driver may have been going the wrong way.Traffic is still backed up, and MoDOT still wants drivers to avoid that part of I-70 if possible. State troopers tell ABC 17 News they expect the road to reopen within the hour.***ORIGINAL STORY***An accident has shut down eastbound traffic of I-70 at the 151.5 mile marker east of Kingdom City.
