Woman Found Beaten, Bloody

***UPDATE SUNDAY 3:40 P.M.***Fulton police have arrested 57-year-old Pamela Carter of Fulton for the abduction and assault of Sara Spencer Friday night. She is now charged with assault, kidnapping, robbery and drug possession and being held on $1.1 million bond.Fulton police told ABC 17 News Sunday detectives had been working on the case since it broke – for more than 30 hours straight.According to a news release, police found Spencer’s Honda CRV in a Walmart parking lot. Investigators watched the store’s surveillance video and saw Carter waiting around the exit doors and following Spencer to her car.Police said Sunday the video shows Spencer and Carter talking and Carter getting into the car’s passenger seat. Police think she may have been giving Carter a ride.Russell Hook, a friend Spencer’s, tells ABC 17 News that was characteristic of her. “She would help people out if they needed the help,” Hook said. “And that’s what I think is what happened here.”Major H. Roger Rice with Fulton Police Rice says the women drove to an ATM. “The victim did take some money out of her account,” Rice said. “The vehicle came back approximately an hour later and the victim was not with her. The suspect was driving the car.”Surveillance shows Carter shopping, then getting into a different car and driving away. Rice says the random nature of the crime worries police.”It does make us nervous. She was just basically doing her shopping. It could’ve been anyone,” Rice said. “We very rarely have anything like that happen in our city.”Carter was arrested around 4 a.m. Sunday at her Westview Drive home, where officer said they found other evidence to link her to the crime. She was in the Callaway County jail as of Sunday afternoon.ABC 17 News reported Saturday night that Sara Spencer had been found by a driver on County Road 210 early that morning, beaten and bloody.***ORIGINAL STORY***Fulton police are looking for a car and an attacker after a woman was found beaten and bloody early Saturday morning.A driver on County Road 210 near Highway 54 called police after seeing 52-year-old Sara Spencer laying in a ditch and bleeding. Spencer was laying face down in the ditch and showed signs that she had been assaulted. Spencer was taken to University Hospital in Columbia.According to a news release, Spencer’s 2012 Honda CRV was missing from the scene. It has Missouri plates SC7-J0P.Fulton police are looking for more information about the attack or the vehicle’s whereabouts.
