Wanted Suspect Arrested

A Moberly man was arrested Sunday night after police found he had a number of outstanding warrants, including one for assaulting a police officer. Just before 10:30 p.m., an off-duty officer reported seeing Cody Kitchen, 25, who was wanted for a December 11 incident in which he allegedly assaulted a police officer and fled on foot. At that time, Kitchen also had Randolph County warrants for his arrest.Officers tailed Kitchen to Morley Street Sunday night and stopped the car he was riding in. At that point, they say Kitchen tried to run away, but didn’t get far before he was arrested.Police arrested Kitchen for the two county warrants. The first was for probation violation related to prior charges of burglary, stealing and fraud; the second was for failing to appear in court for marijuana possession and a traffic violation. Kitchen was also arrested for resisting arrest and marijuana possession, added to the charges of resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer for the December 11 incident.Kitchen was unable to post bond and was taken to the Randolph County Jail.
