Vigilant Guard Quake Exercises

Search and rescue teams from Missouri and around the world started Vigilant Guard mass-disaster training Saturday in Boone County.The scenario focuses on a serious earthquake in the New Madrid Seismic Zone and is being used to practice perilous recovery efforts. Hundreds of first responders will be at the Roger Wilson memorial Training Center throughout the weekend, working in shifts as if the disaster was real.Early into next week, a search and rescue team from Puerto Rico will join the exercise as other teams leave. The scenario will continue to play out through Tuesday morning.Missouri Task Force One is a host of the exercises.
