***UPDATE 12 P.M***JEFFERSON CITY (AP) — Democratic Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon says he’s feels good about his chances of winning re-election. His Republican challenger, Dave Spence, also is making plans to become governor.Spence voted early Tuesday with his wife and children at a St. Louis County library. Nixon was greeted by two dozen cheering supporters when he voted a couple hours later with his wife in Jefferson City.Nixon cited an improved unemployment rate and a financially sound government while expressing confidence in his re-election. St. Louis businessman Spence said he also is planning on victory, noting he traveled about 75,000 miles and attended hundreds of events while campaigning.Both candidates planned some quiet contemplation before their election night watch parties. LOUIS (AP) — Republican U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin has voted in his contentious race against incumbent Democrat Claire McCaskill.Like many early voters in Missouri Tuesday, Akin stood in line for more than 30 minutes waiting to vote along with his wife, Lulli, and his son, Wynn, at Star Bridge Christian Center in Wildwood.McCaskill was scheduled to vote Tuesday morning at the Kirkwood Community Center.Republican gubernatorial candidate Dave Spence has cast his vote in St. Louis.Spence, who is trying to defeat Democratic incumbent Jay Nixon, voted early Tuesday along with his wife and children at a St. Louis County library close to their home in Warson Woods.Nixon is scheduled to vote later Tuesday morning in Jefferson City.Spence said it’s hard to believe that a year of campaigning has ended. He said he traveled about 75,000 miles and attended hundreds of events.After voting, Spence and his family planned to attend to church at their parish, Ste. Genevieve DuBios.
