Thousands of Drugs Collected

National Drug Take Back Weekend collected thousands of pills across Mid-Missouri.Over the two-day event, Boone County authorities collected 494 pounds of unused, unwanted or old prescription drugs. Officials estimate that consists of nearly 175,000 pills.Since Boone County began the take back events in 2010, officials have collected 1,921 pounds or approximately 682,000 pills.The Drug Enforcement Administration will be in the county on Tuesday to properly dispose of the drugs.
