Suspect Defrauds Elderly Woman

A suspect was arrested Tuesday for defrauding an elderly woman in Mid-Missouri.Investigators believe Michele Brown, 40, charged at $29,000 over two years. Relatives of the victim and Brown’s family both contacted authorities after discovering the accounts.Brown had worked with 80-year-old woman several years ago. She moved into the victim’s house on Kinloch Court in May 2010. Brown was from the Sturgeon area north of Columbia and already on probation for fraud.Deputies say Brown opened credit cards in the woman’s name. Officials expect the total dollar amount of stolen funds to rise.
