Suspect Arrested After Pursuit

***UPDATE 5 P.M.***David Eugene Rodebaugh, Sr. has been charged with second degree domestic assault, resisting arrest, driving while revoked and second degree property damage. A judge has ordered that Rodebaugh be held without bond.***ORIGINAL STORY***Police arrested a man following an assault and a high-speed chase in Jefferson City.Jefferson City police responded to a domestic assault around 11 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Madison Street. The suspect in the assault, 37-year-old David Eugene Rodebaugh, Sr., left the scene before officers arrived.Officers began to following the vehicle on westbound Highway 54. A deputy with the Cole County Sheriff’s Department joined the pursuit, which reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour at times.Rodebaugh tried to turn off of Highway 54 onto Heritage Highway, but crashed his vehicle at the turn. He then attempted to flee on foot into the woods. Jefferson City police, Cole County deputies and Highway Patrol troopers used a K-9 unit to track Rodebaugh and took him into custody.Rodebaugh is facing charges of second degree domestic assault, felony resisting arrest, felony driving while revoked, and property destruction. He is currently in the Cole County Jail.
