Shooting Near Strip Club

Columbia police are searching for at least one gunman after a Sunday morning shooting. It happened in the parking lot near Club Vogue off of Eighth Street and the Business Loop. Police said there were multiple shots and one person may have been hurt. At around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, gunfire broke out in the parking lot next to several businesses and homes. An ABC 17 News reporter even found two shell casings adding to the ones police picked up.At this point police know after the shooting one man went to the hospital with some sort of injury to his back, they said he’s not cooperating.”Just sounded like a gun going off across the street, it was a lot for real, it was I say at least more than six for sure,” said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous.People in the area said the parking lot is often full of people lingering late at night; however businesses in the area told ABC 17 News this type of activity is rare.”It’s deeply concerning that something like that would happen in that vicinity especially since we have never had any kind of incident like this before,” said Club Vogue manager Jay Yeager.Club Vogue plan to add security and meet with police this week to make sure nothing like this happens again.”We are going to take the appropriate steps to make sure the parking lot is well lit and well patrolled,” said Yeager.Currently police don’t have any suspect descriptions, but the Yeager said this group of people involved were not from Club Vogue and drove off quickly after the shooting.
