Serbian Smash

The Missouri Tiger basketball team closed it’s exhibition schedule Sunday afternoon at Mizzou Arena by beating Missouri Southern 86-60. The star of the game was unquestionably Serbian freshman Stefan Jankovic. Playing out of position on the wing due to an illness to Keion Bell and the unavailability of Jabari Brown (transfer rules) and Mike Dixon (suspension), Jankovic flashed his versatile game by scoring 20 points inside and out.Laurence Bowers followed up a strong preseason debut by scoring 11 points and pulling down 8 rebounds. Freshman Negus Wesbster-Chan was outstanding filling in for Dixon as the backup point guard to Phil Pressey. Webster-Chan scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds and did not turn the ball over once. The Tigers open the season Saturday, November 10th at Mizzou Arena against SIU-Edwardsville. Tip-off was moved back an hour to 4:00 pm to account for fans wanting to watch the Tiger football team take on Tennessee earlier in the day.
